Saybrook Point Resort & Marina Unveils Multi-Million Dollar Transformation of the Inn

Saybrook Point Resort & Marina, a family-owned boutique resort, today announced the ongoing transformation of all accommodations at the Main Inn, marking the latest investment in the luxury property’s continued commitment to thoughtful reinvestment, environmental stewardship and a refined coastal experience.

Slated for completion in May 2026, the $8.5 million room renovation, part of a broader $14 million investment over the past three years, will encompass more than 82 rooms and reinforce Saybrook Point’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the guest experience.

The refreshed interiors, led in collaboration with Jeffrey Beers International, introduce a distinctly Connecticut-driven aesthetic shaped by the surrounding shoreline and the property’s deep-rooted history. Drawing from the meeting point of the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound, the design incorporates osprey-inspired patterns, warm oak finishes and a palette of deep, Northeastern blues and soft neutrals to create a layered, residential atmosphere that feels both intentional and deeply connected to place.

Balancing heritage with modernity, furnishings reinterpret early American and maritime influences through softened edges, framed detailing and tailored upholstery. References to boat-building and colonial design – seen in rounded corners, inset panels and warm wood tones – introduce a more transitional expression of traditional craftsmanship.

Interiors were also reimagined to enhance comfort and flow, with updated layouts, layered lighting and a new bedding program featuring handcrafted, dual-comfort mattresses from Connecticut-based Mattress Concierge. Corridors introduce contrast through a richer palette, textured wallcoverings and brass accents, complementing the more relaxed feel within each guest room.

Sustainable Renovations

Defining this effort is Saybrook Point’s continued commitment to environmentally responsible sourcing and material selection, an approach that has guided the resort for decades and remains central to its long-term vision.

Highlights include:

  • Natural & Renewable Materials: Wool-blend carpeting that supports indoor air quality and contributes to responsible building standards
  • PFAS-Free & Low-Emission Textiles: Upholstery and wall coverings selected without harmful chemicals, meeting rigorous health and environmental benchmarks
  • Locally & Regionally Sourced Elements: Furniture, hardware and finishes sourced closer to home to reduce transportation impact and support regional craftsmanship
  • Recycled & Upcycled Materials: Accents such as throw blankets crafted from recycled cotton, minimizing waste and resource use
  • Certified Sustainable Hardware: American-made hardware produced with high recycled content and long-standing certifications
  • Energy-Efficient In-Room Technology: Guestroom thermostats that automatically adjust heating and cooling based on occupancy and balcony door status
  • Conservation-Inspired Details: Subtle elements that celebrate and raise awareness for osprey conservation efforts within the Old Saybrook community

The project is being led by Franklin Enterprises, under the direction of project manager Jim Tice. Saybrook Point Resort & Marina continues to welcome visitors across all accommodation types, maintaining its signature level of service, hospitality and attention to detail.

As part of its continued investment in sustainability, Saybrook Point plans to introduce Tesla vehicles for guest use, complemented by six on-site Level 2 EV charging stations. The property further supports environmentally conscious operations through Tesla Shingle Solar panels, which generate approximately 5% to 10% of the resort’s power needs.
